Examenreglement - Jazzafdeling
Aan het einde van elke cyclus, voor niveau 3.3 en 4.3, geven de studenten hun eindexamen binnen de jazzafdeling in de vorm van een klein concert. Elke student moet een vastgesteld aantal nummers in verschillende stijlen voorbereiden, een nummer kiezen uit de vaste repertoirelijst, en in staat zijn een deel van het programma uit het hoofd te spelen. De leerkracht bereidt de student hier actief op voor. Studenten worden enkele weken op voorhand per e-mail op de hoogte gebracht om hun repetitiemoment te kiezen.
Repetitie met de leerkrachtenband
- Vindt plaats 1 a 2 weken voor het examen, ongeveer 15 a 20 minuten per student
- De leerkracht van de student bereidt hen hierop voor
- Kom 15 minuten voor het toegewezen tijdstip aan, klaar om te beginnen
Lead sheets
- Netjes en duidelijk, 3 papieren exemplaren
- Studenten die een transponerend instrument spelen, zoals saxofoon of trompet, moeten partituren voor de ritmesectie in klinkende toonhoogte voorzien
- Aanduidingen op de lead sheet:
- Naam van de student
- Tempoaanduiding
- Structuur van het stuk - intro, thema, solo's, thema, einde - met een duidelijke aanduiding van wie wat speelt in elk deel (op die manier maakt de student in feite een klein arrangement)
Rol van de student
- Leid de band: tel met vertrouwen af op het juiste tempo en leg de structuur duidelijk uit
- Speel het thema en improviseer over de akkoorden
- Bij begeleidende instrumenten, zoals piano of gitaar: ondersteun de solisten door te compen
- Behoud visueel oogcontact met de band tijdens het spelen

Niveau 3.3
- Bereid 3 nummers voor, minimaal 2 verschillende stijlen
- Kies 1 nummer uit de repertoirelijst; 2 vrij te kiezen
- Speel 1 nummer uit het hoofd
Niveau 4.3
- Bereid 4 nummers voor, minimaal 3 verschillende stijlen
- Kies 1 nummer uit de repertoirelijst; 3 vrij te kiezen

Reglement d'examen - Departement jazz
A la fin de chaque cycle, pour les niveaux 3.3 et 4.3, les etudiants presentent leur examen final au sein du departement jazz sous la forme d'un petit concert. Chaque etudiant doit preparer un nombre defini de morceaux dans des styles differents, choisir un morceau dans la liste de repertoire fixe, et etre capable d'interpreter une partie de son programme de memoire. Le professeur prepare activement l'etudiant a ces taches. Les etudiants seront informes par e-mail quelques semaines a l'avance afin de choisir leur creneau de repetition.
Repetition avec le groupe des professeurs
- A lieu 1 a 2 semaines avant l'examen, environ 15 a 20 minutes par etudiant
- Le professeur de l'etudiant le prepare a l'avance
- Arriver 15 minutes avant l'heure assignee, pret a commencer
Grilles (lead sheets)
- Propres et claires, 3 exemplaires papier
- Les etudiants jouant d'un instrument transpositeur, comme le saxophone ou la trompette, doivent fournir des partitions pour la section rythmique en tonalite de concert (do)
- Indications sur la grille :
- Nom de l'etudiant
- Indication du tempo
- Structure du morceau - intro, theme, solos, theme, fin - avec une indication claire de qui joue quoi a chaque section (l'etudiant realise ainsi en quelque sorte un petit arrangement)
Role de l'etudiant
- Diriger le groupe : compter avec assurance au bon tempo et expliquer clairement la structure
- Jouer le theme et improviser sur la grille
- Pour les instruments d'accompagnement, comme le piano ou la guitare : soutenir les solistes en accompagnant
- Maintenir un contact visuel avec le groupe pendant le jeu

Exam regulations - Jazz department
At the end of each cycle, in level 3.3 and 4.3, students present their final exam in the Jazz department in the form of a small concert. Each student must prepare a set number of songs in different styles, choose one song from the fixed repertoire list, and must be able to perform part of their program by heart. Their teacher actively prepares them for these tasks. Students will be informed by email a few weeks in advance to choose their rehearsal time slot.
Rehearsal with the teacher's band
- Held 1-2 weeks before the exam, approximately 15-20 minutes per student
- The student's teacher prepares them in advance
- Arrive 15 minutes before the assigned time slot, ready to start
Lead sheets
- Clean and clear, 3 paper copies
- Students playing a transposing instrument, such as saxophone or trumpet, must provide scores for the rhythm section in concert key
- Markings on the lead sheet:
- Student's name
- Tempo marking
- Structure of the piece - intro, theme, solos, theme, ending - with a clear indication of who plays what at each section (in effect, the student is creating a small arrangement)
Student's role
- Take charge of the band: count in with confidence at the correct tempo, and clearly explain the structure
- Perform the theme and improvise over the changes
- If playing a comping instrument, such as piano or guitar, support the soloists by comping
- Keep visual eye contact with the band throughout the performance
